Nature Trails Day Nursery in Cawston, near Rugby, has won National Day Nursery Association’s (NDNA) Nursery of the Year Award 2013 for Central England.
The award was announced at an awards dinner, hosted by TV presenter and entrepreneur Saira Khan, at the NDNA conference in Peterborough on 20 June. Nature Trails was one of eleven nurseries shortlisted for the overall NDNA Nursery of the Year Award, supported by Hope Education, which was won by Melville Street Nursery in Scotland.
Alison Dyke owner and manager of Nature Trails Day Nursery said: “We are delighted to be named NDNA Nursery of the Year for Central England and would like to thank all the parents who took the time to nominate us. We are committed to providing outstanding daycare in a rural environment, where children can learn and grow. We have a dedicated team of staff team who will always go that extra mile for children in our care. It is great for their hard work to be recognised through this award.”
Purnima Tanuku OBE, Chief Executive of National Day Nurseries Association (NDNA) comments: “Congratulations to Nature Trails Day Nursery for winning the NDNA Nursery of the Year Award for Central England. It was a wonderful evening and all the award winners and finalists epitomise the dedicated and inspirational work that goes on in the sector. This year parents were able to vote online and a record number took the opportunity to show their appreciation for the hard work of nurseries and practitioners in supporting families.”
Judges were impressed by how this nursery consults its children on all aspects of nursery life, including testing new equipment before the nursery buys it, and for its strong partnerships and engagement with parents. The award was voted for by parents and recognised the contribution good quality nurseries make to the lives of children and parents. As regional winner the nursery won £400 of Hope Education vouchers to spend on resources for the nursery.
Anna Re from leading education resource supplier Hope Education said: “We would like to send our special congratulations to Nature Trails on taking away the title of NDNA Nursery of the Year 2013 for Central England. We very much hope that they enjoy spending their prize money.”
